Other times, instead of a map you'll recieve a riddle - often in several parts.
With the chest in your hands, the voyage will technically be complete - you can sell it to any Gold Hoarder at any of the Outposts for a reward - but so can other players if they steal it! If you were correct, you'll hear a 'thunk' and start pulling a chest up from the sands. Once you believe you are at the right spot, ready your shovel and start digging.
Once on the island, you'll want to use the compass to orient yourself and head to the area with the X and use the topography to find the location. You'll have to match the shape of the island with the name on the Main Map in your ship to chart a course. Maps start out by only showing you the shape of the island but not the name - and an X marks the spot. If sailing alone, you'll only need to place the Voyage scroll on your table opposite the main map on your ship and vote on it. A task that has you dealing with a "pitiful" skeleton, customer, or person's buried treasure will be easy. You can tell at a glance how difficult the Voyages are by the terminology used. Later, as your reputation increases, you will be able to buy promotions to take on harder missions - which may also incur more fees for better rewards.
